About Dr. Heather Moday

heather-modayHeather Moday, MD is a board-certified physician who is passionate about changing the way medicine is practiced in this country.

In most traditional medical practices, the focus is on diagnosing a patient with a disease and then treating the symptoms with medications. There is little emphasis on finding the cause of the problems and dealing with them at their source. Also, there is a prevailing opinion that chronic health problems like heart disease, diabetes, or autoimmune diseases are not reversible and the only treatment is more drugs.

Dr. Moday believes physicians need to spend more time working on lifestyle changes with their patients and emphasizing prevention of disease, instead of focusing on treating people with more medications. In addition, patients should be given tools and education so they can be active participants in their long term health care.

Dr. Moday received her MD from Tulane Medical School in New Orleans, LA. She then completed a residency in Internal Medicine in NYC. She went on to complete a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology. She is board certified in both specialties.

Dr. Moday moved to Philadelphia and joined a private allergy/immunology practice where she practiced for 11 years. As the years passed, she noticed an increasing number of patients were coming in with multiple medical problems and long lists of prescription drugs. Frustrated and unable to help her patients in the way she felt that she should, she decided to change the way she practiced.

She enrolled in the Arizona Center of Integrative Medicine’s fellowship in Integrative Medicine - a 2 year fellowship led by the founder of Integrative Medicine - Dr. Andrew Weil, MD. Dr. Moday is now board-certified in Integrative and Holistic Medicine by the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine (ABIHM). She has also completed training through the Institute for Functional Medicine in the fields of cardiometabolic medicine, immunology, detoxification, GI medicine , hormones and others. She has also completed a Functional Medicine mentorship with Dr. Dan Kalish.

The Moday Center focuses on using the cutting edge approach of Functional Medicine along with complementary practices from other health traditions. The result is the best possible patient care.
